About Best Crochet Life Photo Tutorials

Since 2021, I’ve been including stitch photo tutorials like this one about the Crossed Double Crochet (2Cdc) in all the crochet patterns I sell on Etsy and Ravelry. The feedback is consistently positive. You don’t need to Google or wade through a YouTube video if you don’t know a technique or specialty stitch when you’re making one of my designs. You can just get straight to hooking!

Great patterns, easy to follow, with clear explanatory photos. I’ve never done half of these stitches before but the instructions are very clear. I’m making a lovely blanket from them ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What is the Crossed Double Crochet (US) Stitch?

The Crossed Double Crochet (2Cdc) is just two double crochet stitches used to form an X on your fabric! This simple twist adds texture and visual interest to crochet projects.

How to Make a Crossed Double Crochet Stitch

A 2Cdc is created by skipping one stitch, and then your first double crochet is worked into the next stitch, before the second double crochet is worked into the skipped stitch. Job done!

Crossed Doubles Crochets and You

Now that you’ve nailed the 2Cdc (US) stitch with the help of the photo tutorial, it’s time to bring this technique into your projects! Seek out some patterns that feature crossed doubles, like this free granny square. Or why not try this new stitch into a design of your own? Switching the position of a couple of double crochets might seem like a subtle change, but the textured outcome can transform your crochet pieces!
