About Best Crochet Life Photo Tutorials
Since 2021, I’ve been including these photo tutorials for standing stitches in the crochet patterns I sell on Etsy and Ravelry. The feedback is consistently positive. You don’t need to Google if you don’t know a specialty stitch when you’re making one of my designs. You can just get straight to hooking!
Great patterns, easy to follow, with clear explanatory photos. I’ve never done half of these stitches before but the instructions are very clear. I’m making a lovely blanket from them ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What Are Standing Stitches?
In crochet, a standing stitch is a method of starting a new round or row without the need for a traditional chain stitch. Instead of creating a slip knot and chaining to achieve the desired height, a standing stitch involves directly working the first stitch of the round or row into a designated stitch of the previous round or row.
Why Use Standing Stitches?
Using a standing stitch in this way eliminates the visual gap and provides a more seamless and professional appearance in the finished crochet project. It is commonly used in amigurumi and other projects where a neat and continuous appearance is desired. I personally choose to use standing stitches in all my projects because I just love how they look!

Thanks Pam, lovely clear photos and you’re right, it’s a much better way to keep one’s work looking tidy and professional. I use it because I hate those gaps in the corners when you come to change cotton or start a new row in the round. Love your web site.
Hi Amanda 🙂 Thank you ♥ And yes I completely agree about the corner gaps. Standing stitches are awesome!
