What is a Back Post Stitch?

In crochet, a back post stitch is a technique where the stitch is worked around the post of the stitch from the previous row instead of into the top loops. The hook is inserted from back to front and then from front to back around the post of the designated stitch, and the stitch in progress is then completed as usual.
